This is a very thorough analysis of what I also see as a major problem in today's evangelical churches. Our youth are either in favor of drinking (just short of getting "buzzed" or "tipsy"...no one claims drunkenness for themselves!) or abstain themselves but cannot condemn those who see no problem w/ drinking alcohol. Adults seem to basically ignore or deny that this is an issue and it is not being addressed as it should be. "Silence on a subject or issue is usually interpreted as endorsement by youth." (heard this quote on Christian radio) "What parents allow in moderation, children will excuse in excess." (a quote by Bill Gothard that I think applies to this situation.) I am frankly tired of how many people have now adopted social drinking for themselves or argue in its favor....Thank you for this article which I will share! I long for my children to have friends who share this viewpoint...which is rare in our social circles!

With respect to the comments Mr. Fitzsimons as to the availability of the Old and New Testaments of the Scriptures, in the hands of Muhammad and his followers, two observations need to be posted in conjunction with my paper "Muhammad's Quran Examined by the Scriptures."

My point was not that Muhhamad and his followers were students of an Arabic Bible somewhere, leafing through it to form some Islamic apologetic opposing Christianity. Some authorities do suggest that there "must have been some early Arabic translations of the Bible." Nevertheless that moot point does not remove the fact that Muhammad and those who recorded for him rebutted New Testament teachings.

Secondly, my reader's point above dismisses the entire effort we make in our paper by saying the "locals" from whom Muhammad learned were "heretical anyway." Point is, the entire Quran forms an heretical diatribe aimed at damning and dismissing followers of Christ. It is neither Christian nor truthful and it most certainly does not represent authentic Scriptures that trump the Holy
Word of God, the Bible!

Thank you for reading and sharing your views in any event. -Ken Pierpont

Dad,
Thank you for your good post and obvious time put into preparation. I loved each little one that we lost through miscarriage and know He is there at each creation whatever the circumstances.

Thank you for this wonderful sermon. As the mother of ten living children I weep with Jeruselum over the abortions in the world. I just had a miscarriage in December and I am still recovering from that loss. The Lord give and the Lord takes away, blessed be His name! But the point being, the Lord takes away! Not man!

Thank you for this.

I have now finished reading the rest of your work. finding one other inaccuracy. Scholars in this field (notably Bruce Metzger, "The Early Versions of the N.T.") state that the Bible had not, by the time of Muhammad, been translated into Arabic. Actually, even if Muhammad had been literate, he would have had to get his knowledge of Christianity from the local Jews and Christians, who were often heretical anyway.
I hope these comments is not seen as merely negative. It's very important, I've found, not to give Muslims gratuitous reason to rubbish our faith or arguments, by factual errors.
Yours in Christ
Lionel Fitzsimons

Thanks for your reply. I will indeed take the time to read the whole thing. But the very title means Muslims who are browsing the Net will read it.
Please note spelling of my surname.
